where do I upgrade my plan

I can't find where to upgrade my plan from personal to family

I have just renewed to MS 365 personal classic subscription as I didn't need Co-pilot. Now I'd prefer to upgrade to the Family plan so we don't all have access to every file.

The 'switch plan' button only allows payment changes to monthly payments , there is not an upgrade plan button.

Can someone tell me where to upgrade please?

I don't want to cancel and resubscribe as I don't want to lose all of my files.

There is no upgrade option as such, the process to switch to another Microsoft 365 subscription is provided on the link below.

To move from the Personal subscription to the Family subscription, basically you purchase a new subscription to the Family version, then the remaining time on the Personal subscription is converted to the Family subscription on a pro-rata percentage basis.

The only other option would be to cancel your existing subscription to get a pro-rata refund, the take out a new Family subscription.

Either way, provided you use the exact same Microsoft account for the new subscription, you will still have access to all your files and the same 1TB of OneDrive storage.

Thank you....I followed your advice and paid for a family subscription and it extended my account to 2028.

To move from Microsoft 365 Personal Classic to Microsoft 365 Family, use the normal subscription switch flow for a plan with more features.

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account that has the current subscription.
Buy Microsoft 365 Family with that same account.
The new Family benefits start right away.
The remaining time on the current subscription is automatically converted and added to the new subscription.

A missing Switch plan button is expected here. That button is for changing the billing cycle such as annual to monthly, not for changing to a different subscription type.

For switching to a subscription with more features, the documented method is to buy the new subscription rather than use Switch plan.

If the subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or certain retail partners, subscription changes are managed by that partner, and the ability to switch plans may vary.

Changing subscriptions does not require cancelling first when moving to a plan with more features. The cancel-first process applies when switching to a plan with fewer features.
