How do I turn on Web Protection on a iPhone 16, it is showing off. Have checked my VPN it is on.

    On iPhone, Microsoft Defender web protection depends on its local VPN. If VPN is already on but Web Protection still shows Off, turn it back on from the Defender app:

    1. Open the Microsoft Defender app on the iPhone.
    2. Find Web Protection and turn it On.
    3. If prompted, allow Defender to use the local VPN and notifications.

    If it was disabled from iPhone settings, re-enable the Defender VPN:

    1. Open Settings on the iPhone.
    2. Go to General > VPN.

    4. Turn Connect On Demand On.

    The VPN shown as connected may belong to another VPN app rather than Microsoft Defender. iOS allows several VPN profiles to be installed, but only one device-wide VPN can be active at a time. A work VPN, ad-blocking app, security app, or private DNS app may therefore prevent Defender Web Protection from staying enabled.

    It is recommended that you temporarily turn off or remove any other VPN/security profiles, restart the iPhone, and check Defender again. Also install all available updates for both iOS and Microsoft Defender, since app updates often include compatibility fixes.

    If it still shows Off, delete and reinstall Microsoft Defender from the App Store. Sign back in using the same Microsoft account linked to your Microsoft 365 subscription, then complete the setup prompts again. This recreates Defender’s VPN profile.

    For a company-managed iPhone, avoid removing management profiles yourself. Contact your IT administrator, as an Intune policy or another required corporate VPN may be controlling the Defender configuration.
