An integrated threat protection solution designed to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats across Microsoft 365 services.
On iPhone, Microsoft Defender web protection depends on its local VPN. If VPN is already on but Web Protection still shows Off, turn it back on from the Defender app:
- Open the Microsoft Defender app on the iPhone.
- Find Web Protection and turn it On.
- If prompted, allow Defender to use the local VPN and notifications.
If it was disabled from iPhone settings, re-enable the Defender VPN:
- Open Settings on the iPhone.
- Go to General > VPN.
- Select the i button for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint / Defender for Endpoint.
- Turn Connect On Demand On.
Important:
- If Connect On Demand is off, Web Protection is not available.
- On iOS, this is a local VPN, so traffic is not sent to a remote VPN server.
- If notifications are turned off, Defender can still block dangerous pages, but the block notification will not appear.
