Microsoft Lists Date & Time Column Shows Different Values in View vs Edit Mode

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with a Date & Time column in Microsoft Lists and would appreciate any guidance.

Issue Description

I created a new list with a Date & Time column called Start Date.

When I view the item in the list, the Start Date displays as:

06-09-2026 05:00

When I open the item details pane, the field still displays:

06-09-2026 05:00

However, the moment I click into the Start Date field to edit it, the value automatically changes and shows:

6/9/2026 17:30

I am not making any changes to the field. Simply clicking into the date/time picker causes the displayed value to change.

Additional Observation

I also created a Power Automate flow to capture the value of the Start Date column.

Interestingly, Power Automate receives:

6/9/2026 17:30

instead of:

06-09-2026 05:00

This makes it appear that the value stored internally may differ from what is displayed in the list view.

Questions

  1. Why does the Date & Time value change when the field enters edit mode?
  2. Which value is actually stored in Microsoft Lists/SharePoint: 05:00 or 17:30?
  3. Why is Power Automate receiving 17:30 while the list view displays 05:00?
  4. Could this be related to regional settings, timezone configuration, or a known Microsoft Lists issue?
  5. Has anyone else experienced similar behavior in a newly created list?

I've attached screenshots showing:

  • The value in the list view
  • The value shown in the item details pane
  • The value shown after clicking into the Date & Time field

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Mathias,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

    Based on your description, I understand that when you add a Date and Time column, the displayed time differs when you open the item in Edit View.

    In my test environment, the time is displayed consistently across Edit View, Detail View, and the standard view.

    Additionally, I tested changing the site's Region and Time Zone settings, and all three views remained synchronized.

    In this case, could you please help me verify the following:

    1. First, clear your browser cache by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Delete, then select Clear now.
    2. After clearing the cache, please try creating a new List and configure the Date and Time column again.
    3. Also, could you please share the current settings you are using for this column?
