Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
If the invitation was canceled, a new sharing invitation needs to be sent and accepted again.
- The subscription owner should sign in to the Microsoft 365 sharing page at https://account.microsoft.com/services/office/sharing.
- Select Share.
- Send a new invite by either:
- Email invite and then Invite, or
- Create link and then Copy link.
- If email was used before and it did not work reliably, use the Create link option instead. The shared link is valid for 48 hours.
- When the new invitation is received, select Accept, then select Join now to join the family group.
Important checks:
- The person accepting must use the same Microsoft account that the invitation was sent to.
- If already in another Microsoft family group, that group must be left first before the invitation can be accepted.
- The subscription owner must have an active Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Premium subscription and available sharing slots.
- If the invite does not arrive by email, check the junk mail folder for a message with "Microsoft 365" in the subject.
After acceptance, the account is automatically added to the subscription owner’s Microsoft family group.
If the invite still shows as pending or needs to be canceled again, the family organizer can sign in at account.microsoft.com/family to view the invite status at the bottom of the family member page as Pending member, then use More > Cancel invite before sending a fresh one.
