1st October 2025 purchased Office Home & Business and installed on a new Laptop and gave to my son for his use. 1st September 2026 again purchased Office Home & Business along with a new Laptop to replace my ancient computer. Appears I have a problem as when I put the latest Product Key in, all Icons etc on my sons' computer have appeared on the latest Laptop.

Suspect this is because I have one Microsoft Account for both purchases.

How do I solve the problem ? what is the easiest and best way?

Can one be transferred to my son ie open a new/additional account?

Appreciate your assistance.

Hi,
This is due to OneDrive. I will help you sort this out.

Please do these steps on the computer that you do not wish to sync.

  1. Right-click the OneDrive icon in the System Tray.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Go to the Backup tab.
  4. Click Manage backup.
  5. Select Stop backup for the folders you want to move out of OneDrive, such as Documents or Pictures.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

Since Microsoft products are associated with accounts, you may see the same OneDrive storage on more than one PC. You have been provided with a solution: to turn off synchronization.

Note that it may still be possible to access the same (free) OneDrive account from both computers, because Office "helpfully" adds accounts to connected services at the File > Account screen when you activate your Office product.
