A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
This usually means the recovery email address or phone number currently registered for verification does not match what is being entered, so OneDrive Personal Vault cannot complete identity verification.
Try this:
- In OneDrive, open Personal Vault and start the setup or unlock flow again.
- In the Verify your identity step, use only a verification method that is already listed on the Microsoft account.
- Check whether the verification message is going to Junk. Valid Microsoft verification emails come from @accountprotection.microsoft.com.
- Mark @accountprotection.microsoft.com as a trusted sender.
- If codes are not arriving, avoid making repeated requests. Too many attempts can temporarily block code delivery.
- If the account shows "make sure you can receive a security code", sign in to the Security page and update or add security info:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/security
- Select Manage how I sign in
- Select Add a new way to sign in or verify
- If prompted to secure the account, an alternate email address or phone number can be used for verification. It does not have to belong to the account owner, but it must be accessible to receive the code.
Important:
- Do not change all security info at the same time, because the account may be restricted for 30 days.
- Support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details.
If access to the currently registered verification methods is no longer available, use the available sign-in helper or Contact Support options shown in the Microsoft account support pages.
