When trying to open the vault on OneDrive it asks me to verify my email. I enter my email and I receive a message that says it does not match the alternative email address with my account. I've tried deferent email addresses and they all say the same thing. I've also tried my phone number to access the vault and I get the same message listed about. I'm just trying to get a verification code so I can access the vault.

    Hello,

It appears that you may be entering your recovery email address incorrectly.

Open an incognito or private browsing window and sign in to your Microsoft account on the Security Settings page:

    https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage

Check whether the recovery email address listed on your account is correct. Alternatively, add a new verification method, such as another recovery email address or an authenticator app, to verify your identity.

    • Select “Add another way to sign in to your account.”
    • To set up authenticator verification on your mobile device, select “Use an app” and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Once this is done, access OneDrive in a private browsing window and open the Personal Vault folder to see if you can access your files.

This usually means the recovery email address or phone number currently registered for verification does not match what is being entered, so OneDrive Personal Vault cannot complete identity verification.

    Try this:

    1. In OneDrive, open Personal Vault and start the setup or unlock flow again.
    2. In the Verify your identity step, use only a verification method that is already listed on the Microsoft account.
    3. Check whether the verification message is going to Junk. Valid Microsoft verification emails come from @accountprotection.microsoft.com.
    4. Mark @accountprotection.microsoft.com as a trusted sender.
    5. If codes are not arriving, avoid making repeated requests. Too many attempts can temporarily block code delivery.
    6. If the account shows "make sure you can receive a security code", sign in to the Security page and update or add security info:
    7. If prompted to secure the account, an alternate email address or phone number can be used for verification. It does not have to belong to the account owner, but it must be accessible to receive the code.

    Important:

    • Do not change all security info at the same time, because the account may be restricted for 30 days.
    • Support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details.

If access to the currently registered verification methods is no longer available, use the available sign-in helper or Contact Support options shown in the Microsoft account support pages.
