I have a microsoft 365 family subscription, paid for via my personal email address. I have another couple of " work / school email addresses associated with my account. I recently bought a new telephone - samsung S25 ultra and maintained my old number but when I open up microsoft it only shows one of my "school accounts" and i cannot access my personal account. As a consequence authenticator and word are not working . How do I activate the full microsoft 365 on my new telephone

Personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts cannot be merged. They can be used side by side.

To get Microsoft 365 working on the new phone, sign in with the personal Microsoft account that owns the Microsoft 365 Family subscription, not the work/school account.

    1. Go to the Microsoft personal account sign-in page at account.microsoft.com and sign in with the personal account used for the subscription.
    2. If the wrong account keeps appearing, switch to the personal account instead of the school account. Microsoft 365 apps use different account types for different services, and Microsoft 365 apps do not support being signed in with multiple user accounts from the same org or tenant at the same time.
    3. To set up Microsoft Authenticator for the personal account on the new phone:
      • Sign in to the Microsoft account Security tab at https://account.microsoft.com/security
      • Select Manage how I sign in
      • Select Add a new way to sign in or verify
      • Choose Use an app
      • Open Authenticator on the phone, select the plus icon, choose Personal account, then scan the QR code
      • If the camera cannot scan the QR code, select I can't scan the bar code on the PC and Enter code manually in the app
    4. If the new phone needs to be added or the old phone details removed for MFA, go to the Additional security verification page or the Security info page from office.com, delete the old phone entry, then use Add sign-in method to add the new phone.
    5. If sign-in to the personal account fails, use the Microsoft sign-in helper tool to identify and fix the account issue.

For Word and other Microsoft 365 apps on the phone, activation follows the account used to sign in. Use the personal Microsoft account that owns the Family subscription.
