When accessing Outlook email app associated with Microsoft 365 family onto iPhone but can't login. On verify email page the administrators email address comes up instead of the second member on the family plan who cannot receive their email.. Will not allow code to be sent when showing this email address.

    Hi DOUG A,

I understand that the Microsoft 365 Family subscription owner’s address appears during verification instead of the affected family member’s address.

Please note that this is a user-to-user Q&A forum, so contributors cannot access or change account verification information.

Have you had a chance to try the relevant suggestions in the Q&A Assist answer, particularly removing and adding the account again within the Outlook app? Please disregard its Settings > Mail > Accounts steps unless you are using Apple Mail, as those steps do not apply to Outlook for iOS.

I would also like to add one check. In Safari, try signing in to Microsoft account with the affected family member’s own email address. Each person sharing a Microsoft 365 Family subscription should use the individual Microsoft account associated with that shared subscription.

Please let me know whether Safari also displays the subscription owner’s address during verification. This will help determine whether the verification issue is associated with the Microsoft account or only with Outlook for iOS.

Note: Please follow the steps in our documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.

If the wrong email address appears on the verification page on the new iPhone, remove the stuck account entry and add only the intended Outlook account again.

    1. On iPhone, open Settings > Mail > Accounts.
    2. Select the Outlook account that is showing the wrong verification address.
    3. Open Account Settings or the Password field, depending on the iOS version.
    4. Re-enter the correct password for the intended account.
    5. Tap Done.
    6. Open the Mail app and check whether mail sync starts.

If the account still shows the administrator email or remains stuck in verification:

    1. Remove that account from the iPhone.
    2. Add the account again using only the second family member’s Outlook address.
    3. If recurring password prompts continue, install the latest Outlook mobile app version.

If this is a Microsoft personal account and sign-in still fails, use the Microsoft sign-in helper tool to identify the account problem and follow the recovery steps it provides: Start

If a verification code prompt appears and the code cannot be sent, use the Microsoft account security info and verification code guidance: Microsoft account security info & verification codes

If the issue is in the iPhone Mail app rather than Outlook for iOS, Microsoft recommends using the Outlook mobile app for email and calendar management.
