Yes—if the old HP printer cable has a standard USB connector for the laptop and the printer-end connector fits the HP Envy 4524, it can be used as a wired connection.
For a wired setup:
- Plug the printer cable into the printer and an available USB port on the laptop.
- Turn on the printer.
- In Windows, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device and wait for Windows to look for the printer.
- If the printer is not found, try a different USB port.
For Bluetooth:
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both the laptop and the printer.
- Make sure the printer is within range of the laptop.
- If Bluetooth still does not connect, use Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, remove the printer if it already appears there, then add it again.
If the printer still is not detected:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
