Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
For Microsoft 365 for business, apply for tax-exempt status by starting a service request.
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with an admin account.
- Open a billing support request.
- Submit the tax-exemption documentation required for the organization’s country or region.
Documentation listed in the available guidance includes:
- United States: Sales Tax Exemption Certificate
- Puerto Rico: Certificado de Compras Exentas
- Canada: Certificate of Exemption or equivalent letter of authorization
- Ireland: 13B/56A Tax Exemption Certificate
- Chile / Colombia: IVA status/RUT
- International organizations: Certification or letter confirmation from local tax authorities
If the organization is not using Microsoft 365 business billing and instead uses an Azure Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) billing account, the request is submitted in the Azure portal:
- Sign in to the Azure portal.
- Go to Help + Support.
- Select Create a support request.

- Attach the tax exemption certificate and include billing account details.
For MCA accounts, the request must be submitted by the Billing Account Owner or a user with administrative access to the billing account.
