SharePoint news links still not automatically displaying preview image, title or description

We have always relied heavily on the News Link function in SharePoint to share external news and information with staff on our intranet.

Like others have reported, the automatic display of article headlines, thumbnail images and descriptions suddenly stopped working.

Do we know if Microsoft are investigating this issue or planning a fix?

We really miss this functionality - it was such a quick and efficient process. While there is a manual workaround, it is time-consuming.

    Hello @Sarah K,

    Thank you for reporting this.

Based on recent community discussions, I tested this behavior in my own environment and encountered the same issue.

At this time, I have not been able to locate any official Microsoft announcement, Service Health advisory, or documentation update confirming an investigation, a product change, or an expected timeline for a fix. Microsoft's current News and News Web Part documentation also does not indicate that this functionality has been intentionally removed or changed.

Since I've noticed this issue occurring across multiple test environments, it's possibly a server-side issue.  . To help Microsoft investigate and determine whether this is a known problem, I recommend the following:

These steps must be performed by a Microsoft 365 Admin, If you're not an admin and don't know who the admin is in your organization, you can find guidance here: How can I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

    1.Contact Microsoft Support Team:

    • Submit a service request: The Global Administrator should create a support request with Microsoft to receive advanced technical assistance. For detailed instructions, see: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn User's image User's image
    • If your subscription is from a partner or reseller, contact the reseller's support provider to help open a service request on behalf of you instead.

2.Report this issue on Admin Center:

    • Sign in to Microsoft 365 Admin center.
    • Navigate to Health > Service health > In the Reported issues tab, Select Report an issue.    User's image
    • Fill in the form and click Submit to report this issue.

Your action will assist the Microsoft backend team in investigating and resolving this issue more efficiently. I truly appreciate your effort in helping to address this problem.

If you have any ideas or you find any solution for this problem, please consider replying to this thread. Or if you need any further assistance, please feel free to reply. I'm here and happy to help!
