Incorrrect password

If the password keeps being rejected even after changing it, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper first. It checks the email address or phone number being used to sign in and identifies account issues.

If the password is correct but sign-in still fails:

1. Use the Sign-in Helper.
2. If the password has stopped working, use Recover your account and reset it here: Recover your account.
3. When recovering the account, make sure the sign-in name is correct:
   • Check the email domain carefully, such as .com versus .co.uk.
   • Check for spelling differences in the account name.
   • If the email is not recognized, try another alias or phone number linked to the account.
4. If verification is requested, choose where to receive the security code, enter the code, and then set a new password.
5. If sign-in still fails after recovery, contact support through Contact Microsoft Support.

Important:

• Microsoft support cannot send password reset links or change account details.
• If this is a work, school, or Entra ID account, contact the IT admin or use Work or school password reset.
