A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Each person in Microsoft 365 Family still has a separate Microsoft account and separate OneDrive storage. Being in the family subscription does not automatically give access to another person’s photos.
To let the second person download photos, the person who owns the photos needs to share them from OneDrive:
- Sign in at onedrive.com with the account that has the photos.
- Go to My files or Photos.
- Select the photo, folder, or album to share.
- Select Share.
- Enter the family member’s name or Microsoft account address, or choose Your family if using a Microsoft family group on OneDrive for the web.
- If needed, turn on Allow editing so the other person can add pictures too.
- Send the share invite.
After that, the other family member can open the shared item and download the photos.
If the goal is to share many photos at once, sharing a folder in OneDrive is the supported approach. A shared folder lets family and friends store, view, and download each other’s photos and videos.
Important:
- Family/group sharing in this form is available for OneDrive for home on the web.
- It is not available for OneDrive for work or school accounts.
- Camera backup to OneDrive does not sync photos both ways. If photos are backed up from a phone, copies stay in OneDrive even if deleted from the device.
