How can I get my 365 back to the original settings so I can access them easily. I can access the One Drive files directly but can't if I need to attach them to an email?

Which email app are you using: Outlook.com, new Outlook, classic Outlook, or another app?

When you select Attach File, are the OneDrive files missing, greyed out, or showing an error? Also, please confirm:

Whether the files appear under OneDrive in File Explorer
Whether OneDrive and the email app use the same Microsoft account
The exact error message, if any

I would not reset Microsoft 365 yet. The next step depends on whether this is an account mismatch, OneDrive sync issue, or an attachment-picker problem.

Since there has been no change, I think we need to narrow down exactly where the file ordering is going wrong before trying anything else.

When you see the one long list of files with the dates out of order, where exactly are you seeing that list?

In the window that appears after selecting Attach File in your email app

In File Explorer > OneDrive

On the OneDrive website

If possible, please also share a screenshot of that file list, including the column headings or sorting options at the top. That should help determine whether this is an email attachment view or a OneDrive/File Explorer sorting issue.

Hi Richard,

If you can open the files directly in OneDrive but cannot find them when attaching an email, the files are likely not fully available through File Explorer or Outlook’s attachment picker.

First, make sure OneDrive is signed in and syncing. Then open File Explorer > OneDrive, right-click the folder containing your files and select “Always keep on this device.” This downloads the files locally so Outlook can access them normally.

In Outlook, you can also select Attach File > OneDrive and choose the file directly, rather than browsing the local folders.

I would try these steps before resetting Microsoft 365, since a full reset is unlikely to be necessary.

Yes and no. I see the list of all my files but they are one(1) long list and scrambled. The dates are out of order with no pattern.
