Yes—if the Office 2016 license was redeemed with a Microsoft account, it can usually be found there and reinstalled from that account.

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Check whether Office 2016 appears there.
    3. If it appears, use the Install option from that page to reinstall. A redeemed Office 2016 key is no longer reused.
    4. If entering the old product key says This product key has already been used or is no longer valid, that is expected after redemption. Reinstallation is done by signing in with the Microsoft account that originally redeemed the key.
    5. If Office is still installed on an older device, open Word or another Office app and go to File > Account. Under the product name, check Belongs to to see which Microsoft account the license is associated with.
    6. If the license does not appear, try any other Microsoft accounts that may have been used when Office 2016 was first set up.
    7. If the Microsoft account cannot be accessed, use the Microsoft account help options or contact support.

Also, the full Office product key cannot be viewed in Office or online, except for the Workplace Discount Program exception described by Microsoft.

    Hello Kimberly Bedini,

In addition to the steps already provided by AI, could you clarify how Office 2016 was originally obtained: purchased directly from Microsoft, supplied with the computer, purchased from another retailer, provided through an employer, or obtained through the Workplace Discount Program?

This matters because employer-provided, volume-license, and Workplace Discount Program editions may use a different installation or activation process. If it was supplied through an organization, you may need to contact that organization’s IT or licensing administrator. If it was purchased from a third-party retailer, proof of purchase may also be needed when requesting assistance.

Please note that Microsoft Community members cannot search for a license using your email address or access your account records.

If none of the accounts you checked displays the license, you can contact Microsoft Support and provide the purchase details privately so they can review the available account and activation information. Here is how to contact them:

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited solely to providing technical guidance on reported incidents, requests, or ideas.

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Technical Support" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.

Also, support for Office 2016 ended on October 14, 2025. An existing installation may continue to work, but the product no longer receives regular technical support or security updates.

I hope you can get the support you need,

    have a nice day
