Our expectations are as follows:

  1. Multi-Tenant Management (M365 Lighthouse):

To understand how i achieve a "single pane of glass" view using Microsoft 365 Lighthouse for native multi-tenant management. What would be required by microsoft to enable and activate per tenant, taking into account these tenants are actively managed by our Managed IT Service Providers. Are there any costs to be aware of?

  1. M365 Assessment Report:

To provide a detailed assessment report outlining the current policy baselines across all active Microsoft 365 tenants. Explain how to best achieve this level of oversight and also to consider any costs involved.

  1. M365 Policy Standardization (Future Phase):

While not immediately required, we would like to explore the feasibility of configuring and deploying standardized policy baselines across tenants, aligned with best practices, to achieve consistent governance. What is the recommended approach to achieve this?

Please let us know your proposed approach, timelines, and any requirements from our side so that we may understand considerations for next steps aligned to our immediate expectations and understanding.

Hello @Phumlani Zwane

Based on the information available in Microsoft documentation, I would like to share the following:

Regarding your first concern about achieving a "single pane of glass" view through Microsoft 365 Lighthouse, each tenant must meet the following requirements:

  • Delegated administrative access (GDAP or DAP) must be configured for the managing partner.
  • The tenant must have an eligible Microsoft 365, Office 365, Exchange Online, Windows 365 Business, or Microsoft Defender for Business subscription.
  • The tenant must have no more than 2,500 licensed users.
  • The tenant must reside in the same geographic region as the partner organization managing it.

For more information, please refer to the Microsoft article: Requirements for Microsoft 365 Lighthouse

In addition, Microsoft states in the FAQ below that Lighthouse is available to eligible CSP partners and there is no separate cost for using Microsoft 365 Lighthouse to manage multiple customer tenants:

Regarding your request for an assessment report across all tenants, I was unable to find a Microsoft article that specifically covers generating a consolidated policy baseline assessment report across multiple tenants. However, you may find the following article helpful regarding customer reporting capabilities in Lighthouse: How to create a custom report

For your future phase of policy standardization concern, at the moment, Microsoft 365 Lighthouse supports Baselines such as Conditional Access Policy, configure joining devices and so on, which provide a repeatable and scalable way to deploy and manage standardized configurations across multiple tenants. This can help organizations align security and governance settings based on Microsoft recommendations.

For more details about the feature, please refer to: Overview of using Microsoft 365 Lighthouse baselines to deploy standard tenant configurations

If you would like additional information regarding licensing, implementation requirements, or any potential costs specific to your environment, I would recommend contacting the Microsoft Sales team for further guidance: Microsoft 365 Sales and Support

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need any further clarification.
