] Check the mouse's connection mode: Logitech Silent mice usually support both Bluetooth and a USB Unifying/Bolt receiver. Check the bottom of the mouse for a small switch or button — make sure it's set to the mode you're trying to use (Bluetooth vs. receiver).
] Confirm the mouse is powered on and in pairing mode: Slide the power switch off, wait 5 seconds, then turn it back on. To enter pairing mode, press and hold the small connect button on the underside for 2-3 seconds until the LED starts blinking rapidly.
] Open Bluetooth settings on the Surface: Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices. Make sure Bluetooth is toggled on. If the mouse appears in the list but is stuck 'Connecting', remove it first (click the mouse entry, then Remove device) before re-pairing.
] Add the mouse as a new device: Click 'Add device' > Bluetooth. Your Surface will scan for nearby devices. Select the Logitech mouse entry (it may show as 'Mouse' or a Logitech model name) when it appears, and wait for pairing to complete.
] Move closer and remove interference: Bring the mouse within 1-2 feet of the Surface during pairing. USB 3.0 ports, Wi-Fi routers, and other wireless devices nearby can interfere with the 2.4GHz Bluetooth signal — try a different physical spot if pairing keeps failing.
] Update or reset Bluetooth drivers: In Device Manager, expand Bluetooth, right-click your Bluetooth adapter, and select 'Update driver'. If that doesn't help, right-click and choose 'Uninstall device', then restart the Surface — Windows will reinstall the driver automatically on boot.
] Try Logitech Options+ software: Download Logitech Options+ from logitech.com/software. It can detect connection issues and sometimes offers a more reliable pairing path than Windows' native Bluetooth settings, especially for older Logitech firmware.
