During the reinstallation of Office Home & Student on a new laptop, after uninstalling the previous installation, I encountered Error 2-4, which prevented me from completing the installation.

I submitted a support request through aka.ms/smca, but despite waiting for a response, I have received no reply or assistance from the Support Service.

I need this issue to be addressed promptly, as I have a valid Office license but am currently unable to install and use the software. Please review my support request and provide a solution as soon as possible.

    Hi

No, you do not need to uninstall Microsoft Teams. Teams is separate from the Office installation and should not cause Error 2-4.

Since this is a new laptop and Office is not listed in Control Panel, please first run Microsoft’s Office setup troubleshooter:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/support/get-help/microsoft-365-troubleshooters

Then restart the computer and try installing Office again.

Please let me know if Error 2-4 still appears.

    Hi,

It’s a brand-new HP laptop. The only existing Office component shown in the Control Panel is the pre-installed Teams app. Should I uninstall it as well?

    Thank you

    Hi

For Error 2-4, I recommend completely removing any remaining Office components using Microsoft’s uninstall troubleshooter, restarting the PC, and then reinstalling Office:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-microsoft-365-or-office-from-a-pc

After restarting, sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your Office Home & Student license and reinstall it from:

    https://account.microsoft.com/services

    I hope this helps.
