Is there a way to control the version history so that older versions of large files don't consume so much space?

    Hi @Turner, Donald

Based on my research, if you're using OneDrive for Microsoft 365, version history can be controlled.

-End users can view and manage the version history of their files. For more information, you can refer to this article: View the version history of an item or file in a list or library | Microsoft Support

-Microsoft 365 administrators can configure Version History Limits for SharePoint Online and OneDrive. These settings can:

+Set a maximum number of versions to retain.

+Remove older versions based on their age.

+Use the Automatic version history limit, which automatically manages older versions to help optimize storage while retaining versions that are more useful for recovery.

If you're using work or school accounts, I recommend contacting your Microsoft 365 administrator and asking them to review the version history settings for the affected OneDrive account or SharePoint document library. Administrators can configure version history limits at the organization, site, library, and individual OneDrive level, depending on the configuration.

    For more information, see:

Version history limits for document library and OneDrive overview - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn

Tutorial: Manage version history limits on a site, library, or OneDrive account - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn

    I hope this information helps.
