Existing Twitter embeds work in Sway, but newly added Twitter/X embeds fail with "Currently we only support iframe embeds and Twitter embeds."

    Hi Riel,

Thank you for sharing the details of your concern.

This may be related to a compatibility limitation between Sway and the newer X embed format. Sway supports iframe and recognized Twitter embed content, while the code currently generated by X may use a different format or the x.com domain, which Sway may not recognize correctly.

Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Make sure the post is publicly accessible and does not require users to sign in.
    2. Copy the post URL and replace x.com with twitter.com, while keeping the username and status ID unchanged. Then add the updated URL to a new Media > Embed card in Sway.
    3. If you are using embed code, obtain a fresh copy from the post’s Embed post option and paste the complete code into the Embed card.
    4. Confirm that the URL in the embed code begins with https://, as Sway requires secure URLs for embedded content.
    5. Test the same post in a new Sway and another browser to determine wheth er the behavior is specific to the current Sway or browser session.

If the issue continues with multiple public posts, even after changing the domain to twitter.com, this may indicate that Sway does not currently recognize the newer X embed format. In that case, please contact your organization’s IT administrator and ask them to open a support request with Microsoft Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin center for further investigation.

When submitting the request, please include the affected post URLs, the embed code, a screenshot of the error message, and confirmation that previously embedded Twitter posts continue to work.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reply in the comments below.
