A Microsoft 365 Business subscription cannot be converted in place to Microsoft 365 Personal. To stop using the business subscription, cancel the Microsoft 365 Business subscription and keep the Personal subscription.

Before canceling, save any business data. When cancellation becomes effective, users lose access to their data. For Microsoft 365 for business, customer data left behind might be deleted after 30 days and no later than 180 days after cancellation. If the subscription is explicitly deleted instead of canceled, SharePoint Online and OneDrive content can be deleted immediately.

For Microsoft 365 for business, cancel it in the Microsoft 365 admin center:

Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with the account that purchased or administers the subscription.
Go to the subscription details page.
In Subscription and payment settings, select Cancel subscription.
In Options for canceling your subscription, select Cancel now or Cancel before the next renewal date, then select Next.
Select a reason, add optional feedback, then select Cancel now.
Repeat for any other active business subscriptions.

After cancellation, the subscription status shows as Disabled with reduced functionality until it is deleted.

If the subscription was bought through Google Play, Apple App Store, or a third-party retailer, cancellation must be handled with that provider instead.

If the goal is only to stop future charges and the page shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Cancel subscription, the subscription is already set to expire and no further action is required.
