Office 2024 standard edition 64-bit download links to an outage page with a technical difficulty message

I have an Office 2024 Standard product key from a third‑party reseller.
The key entry page accepts my key, but the 64‑bit download link shows an “outage / technical problem” message and has done so for several hours.
I need a working 64‑bit installer (not 32‑bit) or an alternative download path.

The important detail here is Office 2024 Standard. Microsoft identifies Office LTSC Standard 2024 as a volume-licensed edition, deployed using the Office Deployment Tool (ODT), rather than the normal consumer Office download workflow.

For a legitimate Office LTSC Standard 2024 license, the 64-bit installation can be downloaded with ODT using:

Then run:

setup.exe /download configuration.xml

Microsoft confirms PerpetualVL2024 is the required channel for Office LTSC Standard 2024.

However, because you purchased the key from a third-party seller, first verify that it is actually a legitimate volume license you are authorized to use. A product key being accepted initially does not by itself establish that the license is valid for resale or personal use. Microsoft warns that separately sold Office keys can sometimes be unauthorized or later blocked.

@John Smith Because you bought your license from third party, apparently your license is NOT a legitimate volume license. Even if they give you the installer and it might seem to work now, you will run into issue later.

The Pro Plus product (aka. Standard or LTSC) is not designed for home users. It is a volume license, which means it is intended for organizations, not individuals. These licenses are managed by an organization’s IT department and are tied to a contract with Microsoft. Because of how volume licensing works, activation may depend on things like installation limits or periodic validation through an organization’s KMS server. Those processes require IT support from the organization that owns the license. That is why these licenses are not meant to be sold to individuals. Home users typically do not have access to the IT infrastructure needed to manage or maintain them. Unfortunately, some third-party sellers offer these licenses at very low prices. They may seem like a good deal, but they are often resold in ways that violate the licensing terms. Most buyers are not aware of these details until problems occur. You could lose activation down the road out of the blue and Microsoft will not support it because you didn't purchase it via the correct channel. Microsoft doesn't sell this type of license directly to consumers for this exact reason.

If I were you, I would return this license and ask for your money back.

Office 2024 Standard is a volume licence version of Office used by large organizations, that is not a correct consumer Office licence and you will not be able to activate that Office licence.

If you are a personal home user, the best option is to contact the 3rd party retailer to get a full refund, they should not be selling that type of Office licence to the general public.

The license retailer had a download for the office install. I used the License I purchased with it.

Unfortunately, unless you purchased Office on behalf of an organization (business), what Dave said is correct. Volume licenses cannot be run as consumer (home use) products. See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ltsc/2024/overview .

Office Home 2024 and Office Home & Business 2024 are the only available one-time purchase (perpetual) licenses for consumers.

Hi John, that Office licence may initially activate but it will later deactivate automatically when the activation servers check the Office licence and you will not be able to reactivate the licence..
