Can't add microsoft account to new laptop

Try one of these supported workarounds for Windows setup on a new laptop:

1. Restart the device from the error screen.
   • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
   • Select the Power button in the lower-right corner.
   • Select Restart.
   • After restart, continue setup again.
2. If setup is stuck and there is no work to save, end the blocked setup host process.
   • Press Ctrl + Shift + F10 once.
   • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
   • If Task Manager is simplified, select More details.
   • Open the Details tab.
   • Find wwahost.exe.
   • Right-click it and select End task.
   • Continue setup.
3. If the Microsoft account still will not add during setup, complete setup with another sign-in method first, then add the Microsoft account later.
   • Use an existing Microsoft account to get started, then add the new account later.
   • Or set up the PC using a local account, then switch it to a Microsoft account afterward.
4. If the account itself may be the issue, verify that the Microsoft account can sign in through the account sign-in flow. If sign-in problems continue, use the sign-in helper or Contact Support option.

If the laptop is being set up for a child account, set up the device first with the family organizer account, then go to Settings > Accounts > Family and allow the child account to sign in.
