Hello, thank you for reaching out.

    • Are you using the Outlook iOS app and not the default Mail app on your iPhone?
    • Could you please share the exact error message you receive when signing in with your Microsoft account in the Outlook iOS app?

    In the meantime,

    1. Go to iOS Settings.
    2. Select Apps > Mail.
    3. Select Mail Accounts, then tap Outlook.
    4. Tap Account Settings.
    5. If this is the account you’re having trouble signing in to, click Delete Account.
    6. Once the account is deleted, go back to Mail Accounts and select Add Account.

Enter your email address, or select Outlook.com from the list.

If you receive any error during sign-in, please let me know.

Try these steps on the iPhone:

    1. If the problem is in the built-in iPhone Mail app, open Settings > Mail > Accounts.
    2. Tap the Outlook or Hotmail account.
    3. Tap Account Settings or the Password field.
    4. Enter the correct or updated password.
    5. Tap Done.
    6. Open the Mail app and confirm mail is syncing.

If the iPhone keeps showing password prompts or connection errors in Apple Mail, remove the account and add it back as Outlook.com:

    1. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
    2. Tap the account, then tap Delete Account.
    3. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.
    4. Choose Outlook.com and sign in again.

If that still does not fix it:

    1. Remove the account again.
    2. Go to Settings > Safari and tap Clear History and Website Data.
    3. Restart the iPhone.
    4. Add the account back and complete the Outlook.com sign-in flow.

If the issue is in the Outlook mobile app instead of Apple Mail:

    • For a Microsoft personal account, use the sign-in helper tool: Start
    • If recurring password prompts started recently, install the latest Outlook mobile app version.

If the account is a work or school account:

    • Try signing in to webmail/OWA first. If that fails, the account may need help from the IT administrator.
    • Some organizations require the domain UPN instead of the email address when signing in.
    • If self-service password reset is enabled, use Reset password. Otherwise, contact the IT administrator.

If the message says the account is blocked because of too many sign-in attempts, the temporary block is typically 24 hours and can take up to 7 days in some cases. On the password screen, select Other Ways to Sign in and use a single-use verification code if that option is available.
