Age restrictions error on Minecraft

My son has been playing Minecraft on his laptop and now has a new PC. When he logs into his Minecraft account, a message appears saying he cannot access Minecraft because of age restrictions. He can still access the same account on his laptop, so it may be a settings issue. How can we resolve this?

This is usually caused by the Microsoft account being treated as a child account on the new PC, or by Family Safety / consent settings not being fully applied there.

    Try these checks in order:

    1. Check third-party app access for the child account
      • Sign in as the parent at https://account.live.com/mk.
      • Find the child account.
      • Select Manage this child's access to third party apps.
      • Select Enable access.
      • If Enable access is not shown, the child already has access to apps not published by Microsoft.
    2. Make sure the child account is not an administrator on the new PC
      • Open Settings for Other accounts.
      • Select the child account.
      • Choose Change account type.
      • Set it to Standard user.
      • This helps prevent Family Safety settings from being changed or bypassed.
    3. Verify the child’s Microsoft account on the new PC
      • On the child’s device, go to Start > Settings > Accounts.
      • Select Verify and complete the prompts.
      • If Verify is not shown, open Microsoft Edge on that device and verify at https://aka.ms/familyverify.
    4. If the account is being treated as underage incorrectly, review the birth date
      • If the birth date is wrong, update it using the Microsoft account birth date process.
      • If the account is correctly under the local age threshold, parental consent and Family Safety settings must remain in place.
    5. If age verification is required in the region
      • In some countries/regions, Microsoft requires age verification.
      • If age verification is not completed, the account is treated as unverified and cannot make new purchases or downloads of games and apps rated 18+.
      • Existing owned mature content remains accessible.
    6. If the issue only affects the new PC
      • Sign in with the child’s Microsoft account on the device and complete any account verification prompts there.
      • Since the same account still works on the laptop, this points to device-side account verification or Family Safety state on the new PC rather than loss of the Minecraft account itself.

If the problem continues after these steps, use the Microsoft sign-in helper or Contact Support.
