Outlook.groups spam emails

Hello,

I am seeking assistance with a major spam issue that has become unmanageable. I am currently receiving around 20+ spam emails per day, and they all appear to be routed through or sent from "Outlook.groups" domains.

Standard blocking and reporting methods are not solving the problem, because these emails use varying group names and subdomains, blocking individual senders does not stop the influx.

Here are the details of the issue:

  • Volume: Approximately 20+ emails per day and increasing.
  • Source: Senders disguise themselves, but the underlying infrastructure points to Microsoft Outlook Groups. Spammers are naming these groups after trusted brands (such as "WhatsApp" or "privat via drive") to deceive users.
  • The Spam Folder Loophole: Microsoft's email filters successfully identify the actual messages as spam and drop them into my Junk/Spam folder. However, the underlying architectural issue is completely ignored.
  • Manual Clean-up Burden: Even though the emails land in Junk, my account is still permanently bound to these malicious groups on my sidebar. I am forced to go into my email interface daily and manually click "Leave Group" for roughly 20+ distinct groups per day because basic inbox rules cannot process group removal or junk removal rules are not available.

My questions for the community and Microsoft support:

  1. Is there a known vulnerability with Outlook Groups being exploited by spammers to bypass traditional junk filters and force memberships without user consent?
  2. Why does the automated spam logic allow an account to remain pinned to a Group structure if the communication from that Group has been designated as spam/malicious?
  3. How can I create a sweeping inbox/junk rule or use a backend setting to block all incoming mail from the "Outlook.groups" domain, or automatically trigger a "Leave Group" action?
  4. Can Microsoft investigate and patch this loophole to prevent automated spam networks from mass-creating thousands of malicious groups and anchoring them to consumer mailboxes?

Any guidance, advanced rule configurations, or official updates on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
