Remove family members from account

1. Sign in to your family group in a web browser at account.microsoft.com/family or https://family.microsoft.com using the organizer account.
2. For each unauthorized member, select the menu next to that person’s name.
3. If the account is a child account and removal is blocked, select Remove consent for this child’s account first.
4. Go back to the family group, then select Remove from family group.
5. Select Remove to confirm.

Important effects:

• Only an organizer can remove family members.
• Only the adult who originally granted consent can remove a child account from the family group.
• Removing someone from the family group removes their access to Family Safety features and shared products or services such as Microsoft 365 Family.
• Leaving or removing members does not delete their Microsoft accounts.

If Manage consent or Remove consent is missing, use the family group page directly and try the child-removal flow there:

• Sign in to https://family.microsoft.com
• Select the child account
• Choose Remove consent for this child’s account
• Return to the family group and complete Remove from family group

If the consent page does not load or the option still does not appear, the documented path is still that the adult who granted consent must remove consent before the child account can be removed. If sign-in to the required adult account is not possible, use Microsoft account recovery for that adult account.
