I am receiving this error message when trying to open One Drive: 0x8004def4.

I have three files in my local drive one is called OneDrive.App.exe, one is OneDrive.exe, OneDrive.VisualElementsManifest.xml.

How can i fix this error?

    Error 0x8004def4 can also occur when OneDrive’s local settings have become corrupted or when a VPN, proxy, firewall, or network filter prevents the app from connecting. The three files you listed are normal OneDrive program files and should not be deleted individually.

    Close OneDrive completely from Task Manager. Press Windows + R, enter the following path, and press Enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\settings Copy this folder somewhere as a backup, then delete its contents. Start OneDrive again and sign in. Clearing this settings folder has resolved 0x8004def4 when the usual repairs did not.

    Temporarily disconnect any VPN. Open Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings and ensure Automatically detect settings is selected. If you do not intentionally use a proxy, clear Use a proxy server. Then test OneDrive on another network, such as a phone hotspot.

    Sign in at OneDrive on the web to confirm that the account itself works, then check the Microsoft service status. Also install any pending Windows updates before testing again.
