For Microsoft Family Safety app sign-in or request loops that keep returning “Sorry, something went wrong”, use this order:
- On the child’s PC, open Settings > Accounts > Your info.
- If Verify appears, select it and complete sign-in with the child’s Microsoft account.
- Open Settings > Accounts > Family.
- Confirm the child is signed in with the same Microsoft account that is listed in Family Safety.
- Confirm the account is a Standard user, not an administrator.
- Repair the Family Safety app.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select Microsoft Family Safety > Advanced options > Repair.
- If Repair does not fix it, use Reset.
- Note: Reset can remove the app’s local data.
- Restart the PC after the repair or reset.
If the issue is specifically that a child cannot access non-Microsoft apps and sees a Family error, the parent may need to re-grant consent for 3rd-party apps. That error occurs when consent was granted without allowing 3rd-party apps.
