Hello, about a year ago, I bought product key for Home Office. I have yet to be able to use it.

At the time, I went to office.com/setup and redeemed the product key. However, redeeming it seems to have provided me with no benefit, as I cannot access any Microsoft Home Office products on my computer or in my Microsoft dashboard outside of the free benefits offered.

Although I have an e-mail acknowledging the order of this product key, it is not reflected in my "order history."

When I try to start over again, on office.com/setup, the website rightly tells me I have already redeemed the product key.

I am using the correct e-mail address to login and am in the correct account.

To help narrow down the issue:

What is the exact Office product shown in the purchase or redemption email, such as Office Home & Student 2021, Office Home 2024, or Microsoft 365?
Where did you purchase the product key: directly from Microsoft or from a third-party retailer?
When you sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services is the Office product listed there?

Once an Office product key has been redeemed, it is normally linked to the Microsoft account used during redemption. You should not need to redeem the key again.

If the Office product appears under https://account.microsoft.com/services select "Install" from there and use that installation to activate Office.

Also, if the key was purchased from a retailer, the purchase may not appear in your Microsoft order history even though the key was successfully redeemed.

A redeemed Office product key is not used again for installation. After redemption, the product is attached to the Microsoft account that redeemed it, and installation/activation must be done by signing in with that Microsoft account on the Services & subscriptions page.

Steps to check:

Sign in to Services & subscriptions and look for the Office product there.
If it appears, select Install Office and install from that page.
If an Office app later asks for activation, sign in with the same Microsoft account instead of entering the product key again.
If the product still does not appear in Services & subscriptions, check Order History in the Microsoft Store account used for purchase. For one-time purchases bought from Microsoft Store, Order History can also be used to locate the purchase and select Install Office to view the product key.
If the purchase is still missing from both Services & subscriptions and Order History, contact Microsoft support for account and product-key assistance. Microsoft support may also help if the key was lost, damaged, or the redeemed purchase is not showing correctly.

Important points for this scenario:

Seeing “This product key has already been used” is expected after a successful redemption.
There is no need to return to Office.com/setup after the key has been redeemed.
If the key was bought separately from the software and the product does not work, the seller should be contacted for a refund because separately sold keys are often blocked if they were unauthorized.
