I have a Windows Pro subscription which I purchased in May 2026; when I logged into my account today it is showing Windows Family. How do I update my account information to identify that I have Windows Pro.
I have been using CoPilot, but not unable to do so, as I have reach the limit for Family.

Thanks for your help

Hello, thank you for reaching out.

Please note that Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro refers to the edition of the Windows operating system installed on your device.

However, if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription for Office apps, it may show as Microsoft 365 Personal or Microsoft 365 Family. These are separate from your Windows edition. In other words, Windows is the operating system, while Microsoft 365 is the Office app subscription that runs on Windows.

To check whether you have Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro installed:

  1. Type winver in the search bar on the taskbar.
  2. Press Enter.

This will show whether your device is running Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro.

To check whether you have Microsoft 365 Personal or Microsoft 365 Family:

  1. Open any Office app, such as Word or Excel.
  2. Go to File > Account > Product Information.

This should show whether your subscription is Microsoft 365 Personal or Microsoft 365 Family.
