Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hi, Megan Gwatney
This usually means Office on the Mac is using cached license information or a different Microsoft account. Since the subscription already appears active through 2028, the product key should not need to be entered again.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Sign out of every account in Word, Excel, and the other Office apps. Quit all Office apps completely, reopen Word, then choose Sign in with another account and use the exact email shown beside the subscription on the Services & subscriptions page.
Update macOS and Office. Open Help > Check for Updates in Word and install all available updates. A recent “License Not Found” issue was resolved through Office updates, and the current fix requires macOS 12 or later.
If it still fails, close Office and run the Office License Removal Tool. Restart the Mac, open Word, and sign in again with the subscription account. This clears an old or incorrect license stored on the Mac.
If the subscription was purchased inside Apple’s App Store, also open an Office app and look for Restore Previous Purchase.
