I have a recurring email that will not stop sending to people at work. How do I stop it? Our IT team can't figure it out.

Hello Ms Gibbon,

To help determine what is automatically generating and sending these emails, could you please provide the following information?

  • How frequently are the emails sent, for example, every few minutes, daily, or weekly?
  • Do copies of the automatically sent emails appear in the Sent Items folder?
  • Are the emails sent from your own mailbox or a shared mailbox?
  • Do you recognize the email content, and is it a message that you previously created or sent manually?
  • Do you know approximately when the recurring emails first started?

Please also check whether there is an Outlook rule, Power Automate flow, or another recurring process configured for the affected mailbox.

In Outlook, please select Settings > Mail > Rules to confirm whether any rule is forwarding, redirecting, or sending messages automatically.

If your organization uses Power Automate, please sign in to Power Automate and check for any active scheduled or automated flow associated with the affected mailbox.

If this is a shared mailbox, please also ask the other users with access to the mailbox to check whether they have configured any Outlook rule, Power Automate flow, or scheduled process.

The requested information will help determine whether the emails originate from Outlook, Power Automate, the shared mailbox, or another automated service.

Kind regards,

Note: Please follow the steps in documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.
