    Shut down completely.

    Disconnect all accessories/dock.

Hold the Power button for about 20 seconds.

Release when the Surface logo appears/reappears.

    Let Windows boot normally.

    Test the touchpad.

Device Manager > "Human Interface Devices" (and check "Mice and other pointing devices"). Find entries like "HID-compliant touch pad" or "Surface Touch Pad Filter Device." Right-click each and choose Uninstall device — do NOT check "delete driver software" yet, just a plain uninstall first. Restart. Windows will reinstall a fresh copy of the same driver,

Go to Microsoft's Download drivers and firmware for Surface pick Surface Laptop 7 (or Pro 7, whichever this is — Business SKU), download the .msi matching your current Windows build, and run it directly. This reinstalls the full Surface System Aggregator / touchpad stack in one go rather than relying on piecemeal Windows Update delivery.

Download and run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT)

Boot into Safe Mode (Settings > Recovery > Advanced startup, or hold Shift while clicking Restart). If the touchpad works in Safe Mode, a driver conflict or third-party service
