How to control lines of text in ppt. slide

As I create a ppt slide, the text keeps jumping to new line configurations, other than as I enter them. These seem pre-set, as I cannot move the text into the line sequence that i want. How do I control this?

    This is usually caused by PowerPoint automatically fitting text inside the placeholder, which changes line spacing and font size when the text runs out of room.

    Try these controls:

    1. Select the text on the slide.
    2. Go to Home > Paragraph.
    3. Adjust Line Spacing if the lines are being spaced differently than expected.
    4. For more control, open the Paragraph dialog box from the Paragraph group and set:
      • Alignment: Left, Center, Right, Justified, or Distributed

    2. Select Format Shape.
    3. Open Size & Properties > TEXT BOX.
    4. Adjust the Left margin.

    To prevent PowerPoint from automatically changing line breaks and the layout of your text, please try the following steps:

    Method 1: Turn Off AutoFit

    1. Select the text box that is experiencing the issue.
    2. On the menu bar, select Shape Format.
    3. Select Format Pane.
    4. Go to Text Options > Text Box.

    6. Under Autofit, choose one of the following options:
      • Do Not Autofit to prevent PowerPoint from automatically adjusting the text.
        • Resize shape to fit text to allow the text box to expand automatically instead of changing the line breaks.

    Method 2: Use Shift + Return

    You can use Shift + Return to insert a line break without creating a new paragraph. This allows you to control exactly where the text wraps to a new line.

    If you are concerned with automatic resizing of text inside placeholders and text boxes, you can change that.

    For example, you can select a text box and, on the Shape Format tab, click Format Pane. In the Shape Options category, expand the settings for Text Box and then change the autofit options as desired. See the screen shot below. You can apply the new settings for future text boxes that you create in the current presentation by right-clicking the text box and then choose Set as Default Text Box Style.
