Suddenly my website stopped working with excel

I use URLs to update my website using Excel. Everything was functioning smoothly until today. The embedded URL I use on several pages, depending on the subject, has stopped working. Now, I only see blank pages with text. I attempted to update the website using a new embedded URL, but the issue persists. Will this be resolved soon, or is there a bug in the embedded code?

I have been having the same issue since the 21st don't know what to do next, whether to wait or see when Microsoft resolves it, or do something on my own.

If the embedded Excel content suddenly stopped working, the supported fixes are:

Regenerate the embed code from the source file.
- Open the file in OneDrive.
- Go to Files view, select the file, choose </> Embed, and select Generate.
- Replace the old HTML on the website with the newly generated embed HTML.
Verify the file is still available and still shared.
- If the file is no longer available, or the link changed, the embedded item can stop loading.
- If the file is no longer shared, it cannot be embedded.
Check browser cookies.
- A reported case with OneDrive embed URLs that suddenly stopped working was resolved by deleting browser cookies.
If embedding into SharePoint, confirm the embed format is supported.
- The embed code must be iframe-based.
- script-based embed code is not supported.
- The site must use HTTPS.
- Some websites block embedding.
- A SharePoint administrator can also block embedding from external websites.
If this is an Excel workbook hosted in SharePoint or OneDrive for Business, generate the embed code from Excel for the workbook itself.
- Open the workbook in the browser.
- Use File > Share > Embed.
- Then copy the generated iframe code.

A key limitation is that anyone visiting a webpage with an embedded OneDrive file can view it without signing in.

As a quick test, please try these steps:

Open the Excel file directly in a browser from OneDrive/SharePoint.
Copy the generated embed URL and paste it into a new private/incognito browser window.
If the workbook displays correctly there, review any recent changes to your website that may affect iframe content, such as content security policies, script changes, or plugin updates.
If possible, test the same embed code on a simple test page to determine whether the behavior is website-specific.

Because the issue started suddenly and affects multiple embedded pages, comparing the embed URL behavior outside of the website can help narrow down whether the problem originates from the webpage configuration or the embedded content itself.

If the embed URL also fails when opened independently, consider testing again from a different network and browser to rule out environmental factors.

Hi Hendrix-V

I am having the exact same problem. Starting on the 21st, my embedded worksheets on OneDrive stopped working. I have also tried those tests and more that were suggested by the AI I used to troubleshoot. After hours of testing both my website and the documents, the AI believes it is an issue on the Microsoft side. After seeing Rich run into the same issue at the exact same time, I believe that is correct. Please advise. This is a major issue for my business.

I tried all those test, all had the same issue. I have heard Microsoft changed how URL’s are created, and it is different than my original URL. Anyways I have decided to go in a different direction by using images as apposed to reading the excel directly. It was clunky anyways. Now with the images it’s much quicker, although requires extra steps to get my info on pages, I can manage that since update may only happen couple of times per week.

As for the difference you're seeing between newer and older embed URLs, Microsoft does periodically update services and sharing mechanisms, but from the information available in this thread it's not possible to confirm whether that is directly related to the behavior you experienced.
