If Google Chrome is being blocked by Microsoft Family Safety, the unblock path depends on whether the account is still treated as part of a Family Safety group.

    1. Check whether the account is in a family group at https://account.microsoft.com/family.
    2. If the account should not be in a family group, try leaving the family group there.
    3. If the account is still treated as a child account, only a Family organizer can unblock apps.
    4. For the organizer account, open Microsoft Family Safety or go to https://account.microsoft.com or family.microsoft.com, select the family member, then:
      • Go to Windows or Apps and games
      • Find Chrome
      • Select Unblock app if Chrome is listed as blocked
    5. Also check Screen time / App and game limits for Chrome and make sure Chrome does not have a time limit.
    6. If web filtering is enabled, go to Content filters > Web and search. Family Safety can block other commonly used browsers when web filtering is turned on.

    Important details:

    • Only Microsoft Edge is the supported browser for Family Safety web filtering.
    • When web and search filters are turned on, other commonly used browsers can be blocked.
    • For web and search filtering to work, the family member must be signed into Microsoft Edge with their Microsoft account.
    • If Chrome was blocked because of Family Safety restrictions, it cannot be bypassed from the child account.

If the account is incorrectly stuck in Family Safety and there is no working organizer account, the supported next step in the provided guidance is to contact Microsoft Support through support.microsoft.com/contactus for Microsoft account > Family & child safety > Manage family group.

Chrome gets blocked when Web & search filtering is On or when the acc is in a child role, and the Chrome switch can block it when set to Block. just set Chrome to Allow and flip that filter Off once — both match the published behavior.
