To permanently delete an Outlook.com account, the Microsoft account must be closed.

1. Sign in to start the closure process: Close account
2. If prompted, verify the account.
3. Confirm the correct account is shown, then select Next.
4. Read the list and select the checkboxes to acknowledge each item.
5. Choose a 30 or 60 day re-open window.
6. Select a reason for closing the account.
7. Select Mark account for closure.

Important:

• Closing the Microsoft account deletes Outlook.com email and contacts from Microsoft servers and they can’t be recovered.
• Access is also lost to other Microsoft consumer services tied to that account, such as OneDrive, Skype, Xbox Live, or Windows.
• If sign-in is not possible, use the Sign-in helper.
• If sign-in verification details were reset, a 60-day wait is required before the account can be closed.
