Hello, please reply as soon as possible!!!!!!

I encountered a 0x8004010f error, so I moved my Outlook files to the C drive and created a new account. I would like to copy all the emails from the mailbox of my previous account to my current account. How can I do this?

Dear @Mitchell Cora

The 0x8004010f error occurs when Outlook loses the path to its data file or the Outlook profile becomes corrupted.

To copy all emails from your previous account’s data file (.pst) into your current active account, follow these official Microsoft import steps based on your version of Outlook:

Option 1: Classic Outlook for Windows

  • Open Outlook and select File in the top-left corner.

  • Click Open & Export > Import/Export.

Import Outlook Office 365 items from an Outlook Data File (.pst) - Microsoft Q&A

  • Select Import from another program or file, then click Next.
  • Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
  • Click Browse, locate the .pst file you moved to your C drive, and select it.
  • Under Options, choose how to handle duplicate items, then click Next.
  • Select Import items into the current folder or choose your new account mailbox as the destination, then click Finish.

Option 2: Quick Open & Drag-and-Drop (Classic Outlook)

If you do not wish to import everything at once:

  • Go to File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File.
  • Browse to your .pst file on the C drive and open it.
  • It will appear as a separate folder tree in your left navigation pane. You can manually drag and drop specific emails or subfolders directly into your new account.

Please refer to this document: Import email, contacts, and calendar from an Outlook .pst file

*Note: If your previous account was configured as IMAP/Exchange using an .ost file rather than a .pst file, .ost files cannot be directly imported. In that scenario, re-adding the original account to Outlook will automatically re-download your emails from the mail server.*Please let me know if this adjustment helps resolve your issue.

If the old mailbox data is in an Outlook data file, copy it into the current account by importing the old .pst file or by opening that .pst file and moving items into the current mailbox.

Recommended path for a previous POP-based Outlook profile:

    1. Find the old Outlook data file (.pst) on the PC. Common locations are:
      • C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Outlook Files on Windows 10 or Windows 11
    2. In Outlook, import the old data file:
      • Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export
      • Select Import from another program or file
      • Choose Outlook Data File (.pst)
      • Browse to the old .pst file and complete the wizard
    3. After import, verify that the mail, folders, contacts, and calendar items appear in the current Outlook profile.

    Another supported option:

    • Open or add the .pst file in Outlook to access its contents without importing, then drag and drop the emails from the old folders into the current mailbox.

Important points for the current scenario:

    • Moving Outlook files to the C drive does not by itself copy mail into the new account. Outlook must be pointed to the old .pst file.
    • Importing a .pst file does not restore the old account settings. The current account must already be configured in Outlook.
    • If the old data was only in an OST file, the provided guidance does not support importing that file directly.
    • Since the 0x8004010F issue happened after moving Outlook data files, Outlook may still be referencing the old path. Creating a new Outlook profile can correct the file path reference.
    • Active Outlook data files should be kept on a local, non-synced disk rather than OneDrive-synced locations.
