One drive duplicate files with computer / laptop / pc name

I have onedrive account and I don't sync it with any folder like dekstop or documents, its purely a cloud based solution system of folders.

Only 1 laptop is using this onedrive, it is not connected to any other pc

However, when I drag/create files, it works BUT after restarting laptop I see onedrive is going crazy with duplicating video files and attatching my laptop name at the end.

Example:

Video1.mp4 (Original)

Video1-Laptop1.mp4 (Onedrive created, I want this DELETED, and I don't want these ever created)

Why do these get created? How to stop them from spawning? Why does noone else have my issue? It has happened many times in the past and I'm forced to delete them one by one which is anoyying af.

If you have OneDrive sync issues, you will get files with the "-laptop" extension on your desktop PC and those with the "-desktop" extension on your laptop. You may also get these extensions if you stop syncing to the cloud for a period of time. That's because OneDrive automatically renames your most recent files to avoid overwriting them with outdated versions.

I suggest you keep everything in sync on your devices. But if you can't do that, use OneDrive's Free up space feature to keep files only in the cloud. Outdated files in OneDrive can cause these problems.

Go to account.microsoft.com/devices and make sure both computers are listed.

    Hello

This is actually a documented issue here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/duplicate-files-in-onedrive

If you don't go off sync from time to time, I would suggest that you go the credentials refresh route as suggested in the article above.
