A broken OneDrive-to-Office sign-in link is commonly fixed by re-linking OneDrive and clearing saved sign-in data.
- Check that the same account is signed in to both OneDrive and the Office app.
- Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar notification area.
- Go to Help & Settings > Settings > Account and note the signed-in account.
- In the affected Office app, go to File > Account.
- Under Connected Services, remove any accounts except the same account used by OneDrive.
- Restart the apps.
- In OneDrive, select Help & Settings > Pause syncing and choose a time.
- Then select Help & Settings > Quit OneDrive.
- Close all Microsoft 365 apps.
- Restart OneDrive and the affected Office app, then try saving again.
- Clear saved Windows credentials for OneDrive and Office.
- In the affected Office app, go to File > Account and sign out of all accounts.
- Close all Microsoft 365 apps.
- Open Start, type credentials, and open Credential Manager.
- Select Windows Credentials.
- Under Generic Credentials, remove entries related to OneDrive, MicrosoftOffice16, and MicrosoftOffice15.
- Restart OneDrive and the Office app, then sign in again with the same account.
- Unlink and re-link OneDrive.
- Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area.
- Select Help and Settings > Settings.
- Open the Account tab.
- Select Unlink this PC > Unlink account.
- Press Windows key + R.

%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\settingsand select OK. - Delete
PreSignInSettingsConfig.json. - Start OneDrive again and sign in.
- When prompted that a OneDrive folder already exists, select Use this folder.
- If the problem continues, install available Windows updates, then restart the Office app and try saving again.
Unlinking and re-linking does not delete OneDrive data. Local folders are temporarily disconnected, and changes sync again after re-linking.
