A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Try these steps in order on the iPad:
- Verify the account works in the browser.
- Open OneNote for the web and sign in with the same account.
- If the notebook opens there, the account is valid and the issue is likely cached sign-in data in the app.
- Reset OneNote sign-in credentials on iPad.
- Go to iPad Settings > OneNote > Reset OneNote.
- Turn on Delete Sign-In Credentials.
- Close OneNote completely, then open it again and sign in.
- If that does not help, repeat the reset and also remove local notebook copies.
- In iPad Settings > OneNote > Reset OneNote, enable Delete All Notebooks only if the notebooks are already synced to OneDrive or SharePoint.
- This removes local offline copies.
- Update OneNote and other Microsoft 365 apps on the iPad.
- On iPhone and iPad, Microsoft 365 apps share Office credentials.
- If Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook are installed, update all of them to the latest version, then try signing in again.
- If the app still keeps returning to sign-in, clear the shared iOS Office credentials again.
- Go to iOS Settings > OneNote > Reset OneNote > Delete Sign-In Credentials.
- Make sure OneNote is fully closed.
- Reopen OneNote and sign in again.
- If the notebook opens on the web but the app says the notebook was deleted, moved, or access is missing, confirm the same account still has permission to that notebook.
- This error can happen when the wrong account is signed in, the password was changed, or access to the notebook was removed.
If the problem started after a password change, sign in again with the same account that owns or was granted access to the notebook.
