I need help with my account and I have duplicate accounts and only need one

To help narrow down the issue:

Can you sign in to both accounts, and what email addresses do they use?

Which account currently shows your Microsoft 365 subscription at https://account.microsoft.com/services?

Do either of the accounts have OneDrive files, Outlook email, or other data you need to keep?

Also, when you say “duplicate,” are both accounts personal Microsoft accounts, or does one say work or school account?

Hi Twyla,

If you have duplicate Microsoft accounts and only want to keep one, the first step is to identify which account has the Microsoft 365 subscription and any important data you need to retain.

You can check the subscription by signing in to each account separately and opening:

https://account.microsoft.com/services

Also check whether either account contains important OneDrive files, Outlook mail, contacts, or other data before deciding which account to stop using.

If you're unable to sign in to one of the accounts, it's better to recover access first rather than delete or close anything. Microsoft accounts generally can't simply be merged into one account, so important data may need to be moved or preserved separately.

For security, don't post the email addresses, passwords, verification codes, or other account information publicly in the forum.

If the main issue is that Microsoft is showing the wrong account when signing in, mentioning what happens on the sign-in screen (without sharing private account details) would help determine the next step.
