    Dear Dantrayl,

The maximum number of people depends on the meeting organizer’s Microsoft 365 license:

    • Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, Teams Essentials, or Microsoft 365 A1: up to 300 participants
    • Many Enterprise, Frontline, Education, Government, and Teams EEA plans: up to 1,000 participants
    • Up to 10,000 invitees can join as view-only attendees in meetings that already have 1,000 participants.
    • A video or audio call started from a group chat, rather than a scheduled meeting: up to 20 people

It is also worth noting that a private group chat itself holds up to 250 people, and only 200 members can be added at the same time, so if you are adding people to a chat instead of a scheduled meeting you may be hitting that limit rather than the meeting one.

    For reference:

If Teams will not let you add more invitees even though you are below the applicable limit, could you clarify:

    • How many people have already been added?
    • Are you scheduling from Teams or Outlook?
    • Is this a scheduled meeting, channel meeting, webinar, or call started from a chat?
    • What exact error message appears?
    • Are the invitees internal employees, external guests, or members of a distribution list?

One more thing worth checking: if you are adding a distribution list or a group, the import limit is 3,500 for a distribution list, security group, or Microsoft 365 group, which can also block the action.

I hope this helps. Looking forward to your reply.
