This is usually an MFA sign-in loop. The supported ways past it are:
- On the sign-in screen, select Sign in another way, Other verification options, or I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now.
- If another method was already registered, use it instead:
- Text message (SMS)
- Phone call
- Email
- If the account is already listed in Microsoft Authenticator, open that entry and use the one-time passcode shown there.
- If no alternate method is available, contact the school IT help desk and ask them to clear/reset MFA settings or require re-registration of multifactor authentication.
After the reset, the next sign-in should prompt setup of Microsoft Authenticator again from the beginning.
If the app says "You haven't finished yet" during passwordless setup, add the account directly in Microsoft Authenticator:
- Install/open Microsoft Authenticator.
- Select + Add account.
- Choose the account type.
- Select Sign in with Microsoft and enter the account credentials.
- Complete verification, then finish app sign-in setup.
If repeated sign-in attempts were already made, wait and try again later or use a different MFA method, because Microsoft Entra MFA can temporarily block more attempts after unusual activity.
