Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
Yes. The supported path to a human representative is through Microsoft Support after starting with the sign-in helper.
- Start with the Sign-in Helper. It checks the account state and either shows the right self-help steps or guides to further support.
- If the account was hacked, use the hacked account flow here: Start. This tool can also offer the chance to talk to an agent.
- If access is still blocked, use Microsoft Support contact options here: I need to talk to a customer support agent.
- For general support entry, Microsoft also provides Get Help on the web.
Important limits:
- Microsoft support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access and change account details.
- If two-step verification is turned on and none of the alternate verification methods are accessible, support cannot help recover the account.
- If two-step verification is not turned on and the verification options are unfamiliar, use the Sign-in Helper first.
If the account is compromised and access is regained, the documented recovery steps are:
- Run a full malware scan on the PC first.
- Change or reset the password.
- Review account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
