Try these checks for MSN video playback in Chrome:
- Disable ad blockers or privacy extensions for msn.com, then refresh the page. MSN video can stall if ads are blocked or fail to load.
- Clear the browser cache and cookies for MSN, then restart Chrome.
- Test the same MSN video in a private/incognito window. If it works there, the issue is likely caused by an extension or local browser settings.
- Make sure Chrome is fully up to date.
- If the problem continues, test in Microsoft Edge. Edge troubleshooting guidance for video playback includes checking whether hardware acceleration is enabled, because disabled hardware acceleration or missing/invalid codec support can cause audio without video or videos not playing.
If the issue also happens in Edge, check these items in Edge:
- Open
edge://settings/system. - Make sure Use graphics acceleration when available is turned on.
- Restart Edge.
- Open
edge://gpuand confirm Video Decode shows Hardware accelerated.
If hardware acceleration is already enabled and playback still fails in Edge, update the GPU driver and test again.
