Cursor freezes or disappears

On 8/7/26 my cursor began freezing or disappearing. I could navigate only by the tab button. If i got to a place where I could type, the keyboard would not work. Only by using keystrokes could I close programs and then restart the computer. Restarting fixes this, but only for a while, which can long or as short as seconds (and in the latter case, temporarily relentless for multiple attempts). I also tried a restart while simultaneously power-cycling the mouse. No luck. I assume this is a Bluetooth issue, but the Device Manager says all those are up to date. I'm out of options.

Hi, good day!

Before suggesting specific fixes, I’d ask a few questions

  • Is the keyboard also connected via Bluetooth, or is it a wired/USB keyboard?
  • Does the problem occur with the built-in laptop keyboard/trackpad as well, if this is a laptop?
  • What is the make and model of the PC, and what are the make/model of the mouse and keyboard?
  • When the cursor disappears, does the Bluetooth icon still show that the mouse is connected?
  • Did this begin immediately after a Windows Update or driver update around August 7?
  • Have you tried using a different mouse, preferably a wired USB mouse, when the problem occurs?

I look forward to your update and am willing to collaborate with you until we resolve the issue. Keep me posted by clicking "Add comment" below.
