Cannot cancel Action Required identity validation containing incorrect legal entity name

I created a Public organization identity validation with the incorrect legal entity name “Volet Streams Resources LLC.” The correct registered legal entity is “Violet Streams LLC.” The request is currently Action Required, and Delete/Cancel is unavailable. No certificate profile has been created and no artifacts have been signed. My Basic Azure support plan prevents creating a technical support request. Please help cancel/reset the active validation so I can create a corrected request. I can provide the validation ID privately to Microsoft staff.

A request in action required state cannot be deleted. go ahead and complete VID so it puts the request in In Progress. Once in Progress delete the request and create a new one with the intended information. If the same person will be going through VID again you can reuse the VID obtained with the first request.

    Hello @prince okeke

Since the organization name was entered incorrectly, I will not continue the current identity validation.

Microsoft's Artifact Signing documentation states that the information entered for Public identity validation must be accurate and that, if changes are required after the request has been created, you must complete a new identity validation request. The legal organization name is particularly important because it becomes part of the validated certificate subject.

In your case, the correct approach is to create a new validation using "Violet Streams LLC" rather than trying to correct the existing "Volet Streams Resources LLC" request.

However, Microsoft also states that creating additional identity validation requests for the same entity while another request is still in progress does not help. Since your current request is in Action Required and the portal doesn't provide Delete/Cancel, there doesn't appear to be a documented self-service method to reset that specific request.

    I would recommend:

    • Do not complete the current Action Required verification, since the organization name is incorrect.
    • Check whether the portal eventually makes Delete or New identity validation available.
    • If the existing request continues to block creation of the corrected validation, you'll need assistance from the Artifact Signing identity-validation team.

Microsoft's Artifact Signing FAQ specifically directs customers to Azure Support for identity-validation onboarding issues and also lists Microsoft Q&A with the Artifact Signing tag as a support channel.

Since you only have a Basic support plan, a Microsoft moderator can hopefully help route this case to the appropriate Artifact Signing team. You can provide the validation ID and other identifiers privately if requested, but do not post the validation ID, subscription ID, tenant ID, email addresses, or identity documents publicly.
